Have you reached financial independence? Are you ready for financial freedom to do what you want? In this video I share how I determined that I have reached financial independence. I have come to this decision by using the 4 percent rule and a budget. Also, premiums from options trading have been a key part of making this decision. Due to the options premium that I am earning I am able to use 2% instead of the standard 4% in the rule. Also, I am able to grow my retirement accounts 3 to 4% faster due to options premium.
A lot of people in financial media like Suze Orman have pushed a point that you need a huge amount of wealth to retire or be financially independent. Suze says you must have at least 5 million in investible assets to retire. I do not agree, and I think these kinds of statements are miss leading and not accurate. I feel people can be financially independent on a lot less. It all depends on your budget and what you can live on. If you can live on a couple thousand a month and have a paid for house, you can retire with a lot less.
I have approximately $600k and nearly paid for house and have reached financial freedom. At least I believe I have. I am able to earn $40,000 a year with dividends and premiums from safe option strategies. I withdraw another 2% yearly to help cover my expenses of around $49,000 a year. In this video I share how I came to this decision using a budget and a good four percent rule calculator. The link the calculator is below along with my Patreon link. The spreadsheet I use in the video is also available to my patrons. Please let me know what you think about my decision. Also, would love any comments about what you are doing and if you have reached financial independence.
Thanks and Happy Investing.
